What is DECATUR H.O.M.E.?

DECATUR H.O.M.E. (Decatur Home Ownership Made Easier) provides financial assistance to qualified low-income families for the purchase of a home with MINIMUM MONEY DOWN. Download the Decatur H.O.M.E. Presentation PowerPoint.

The City of Decatur will pay ½ of minimum required down payment or the entire minimum required closing costs, some including prepaids.

The home you purchase must be located in the city limits of Decatur.

How Does it Work?

  1. Contact a participating mortgage company to pre-qualify for your loan
  2. Select the home to be purchased
  3. Negotiate with the seller to establish price and sign a contract
  4. Make application with the Community Development Department*
  5. Attend Housing Counseling Course
  6. Attend loan closing

Do I Qualify?

  • You must not have owned a home in the last three years.
  • You must have mortgage loan approval.
