Chick-fil-A plans to open a second Decatur restaurant at 2502 U.S. 31 South where the former Kentucky Fried Chicken was located, the city of Decatur announced today.

The project’s engineers met with officials from the city, Decatur Utilities and the Alabama Department of Transportation this morning at City Hall, city Director of Development Wally Terry said.

Terry said the developers plan to tear down the KFC building. They are still working on architectural and site plans, which he said will likely be presented to the Planning Commission in October.

An opening date has not been announced.

A Chick-fil-A already operates at Decatur Mall.
