Lidl grocery to locate at Calvary Assembly site on Beltline

Sep 14, 2017

From The Decatur Daily

Lidl USA, a Germany-based grocery chain, plans to build its first Alabama store at the site of Calvary Assembly on Beltline Road Southwest, according to Decatur Development Director Wally Terry.

Similar to Aldi, which also has a location on Beltline, the larger Lidl store will be about 36,000 square feet, according to a site plan.

While Lidl focuses on food, it also carries some clothing and other merchandise.

Calvary Assembly has moved to Alabama 20 in Limestone County, but its property at Beltline and Glenn Street Southwest has been on the market for about seven years.

According to its website, Lidl operates 10,000 stores in 27 countries. It opened a U.S. headquarters in Georgia in June, and has 13 openings scheduled this month in the Southeast.
