Statewide "Cops on Top" of Wal-Mart in April
Police officers all around the state will be on top of their local Walmart or Krispy Kreme doughnut shop to raise money for the Alabama Special Olympics. This is the first year that a statewide event such as this has been planned. The dates are Friday, April 24 and Saturday, April 25. Anyone wishing to contribute to “Cops on Top” is asked to go to one of the participating locations or you may donate to your favorite location by going to www.FirstGiving.com

2009 Alabama Torch Run for the State Games Announced
The 2009 Alabama Torch Run for the State Games has been set for May 14th and 15th. Plans call for the Torch Run to kick-off at 12 noon in Decatur on Thursday, May 14th. A leg will be ran in Decatur and Hartselle. The Torch Run will then proceed to the Birmingham area where the officers will spend the night and enjoy some food, fellowship and fun together. The next morning, there will be a leg in Alabaster and Pelham and then it’s on to Montgomery for a leg there just before the annual ceremony on the steps of the State Capital building with Attorney General Troy King. The final leg will be through the city of Troy and will conclude at the football stadium on the campus of Troy Universityin Troy, Alabama. That evening, law enforcement officers from across the state will march into the stadium for the Opening Ceremony of the State Games. Register online at http://www.alabamaletr.com
